About 39.9 percent of the 183 degrees and certificates handed out by the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology in 2017-18 were to students in mechanic and repair technologies/technicians programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Boston conferred 40 certificates and 28 associate's degrees in mechanic and repair technologies/technicians programs.

But the single most popular program was for a certificate in heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration maintenance technology/technician. Data shows the school gave out 34 certificates in heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration maintenance technology/technician, followed by 28 associate's degrees in automobile/automotive mechanics technology/technician and 18 associate's degrees in computer technology/computer systems technology.

The institute enrolled 630 students for 2017-18, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
