Davis McKenna, a 6-foot, 5-inch, 275-pound offensive tackle at Marist High School in Atlanta, has committed to playing for Harvard University next year.

Harvard was McKenna’s first choice, Marist head coach Allan Chadwick told the Bean Town Times.

“Davis pretty much knew what he wanted to do when it came to selecting a school,” Chadwick said. “Harvard was his first choice from the start, and when they offered him a spot, he jumped right on it and committed very early.”

Chadwick said that McKenna is one of the most intelligent players he has ever coached and that his athleticism enables him to make use of that intelligence on the field.

“His understanding, retention and attention to detail was outstanding,” Chadwick said. “His development physically, confidence in his abilities and aggressive nature helped to make him one of the best offensive linemen we have ever had.”

Watching McKenna develop as a player from the 7th grade, when he first came to Marist, and through three years coaching him on the varsity team, Chadwick said McKenna always stood out among his peers.

“You could tell from an early age Davis had the tools to become an exceptional player,” Chadwick said.

While McKenna’s senior year was cut short by a knee injury, Chadwick said he is confident that McKenna’s dedication and work ethic will have him ready in time for his freshman season with Harvard.
