HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions struck first as they capitalized on a Framingham State error. With a runner at 2nd base, Junior Thai Morgan singled to right field, plating the first run of the game. Senior Lou Davolio would drive in Morgan 2 batters later; giving Emerson an early 2-0 lead.
- Framingham State got one back in the bottom of the 1st inning when Chris Iannetta led off the inning with a solo home run to right field. After 1 inning, the Lion led 2-1.
- Both teams went quietly in 2nd inning before the Rams exploded for 7 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. A leadoff double for Iannetta started the rally for Framingham State. Cameron Gilroy drove in 2 runs with a double to left center and the Lions pitchers walking in 2 runs helping the Rams jump out to an 8-2 advantage after 3 innings.
- Freshman Robby Posio notched his first college hit in the top of the 4th inning, but that is all the damage the Lions offense did in the inning.
- Framingham State matched their 7-run 3rd inning with a 7-run 4th inning. A total of 6 hits, 5 of which being singled, led to the Rams extending their lead to 15-2 after 4 innings.
- Another 5 singles in the bottom of the 5th inning led to 4 more runs for the Rams. After 5 full innings, the Rams led by a score of 19-2.
- The Rams added 2 more insurance runs in the bottom of the 7th inning; capitalizing on 2 Emerson errors. After 6 innings, Framingham State led 21-2.
- The Lions went down in order in the top of the 7th, resulting in a 7-inning, run-rule victory for Framingham State.
