URGENT Planning Board Survey Master Plan Extended until JULY 5, 2022

6

The Ashburnham Planning and Select Boards are currently working to update our Master Plan, last revised in 2004. The Master Plan will serve as an important roadmap for long-term land use and development in the town and considers all aspects of land use, community services and facilities, open space and natural resources, cultural and historic resources, housing, zoning, economic development, and transportation. A municipality’s master plan creates a vision for the community, identifies current problems, analyzes trends, engages community members in dialogue about goals and issues, and sets the framework for growth and change. By using data, good planning practices, and balancing the needs of citizens, businesses, and civic leaders, we can create a solid guide to create an Ashburnham for all.

The master plan process, covered under state general laws, is a requirement for any town or city with an established planning board. The state’s guidelines require master plans to include certain chapter elements, along with goals, policies, and an implementation program.

The results of this community survey will be tabulated and presented at a public forum in the fall where additional discussion, visioning, and goal setting will happen. All the information gathered, combined with available data, will be documented in the Master Plan for community decision-making purposes and creating development that balances all aspects of the community. Your participation and input are a valuable resource for the future of our community.

We invite you to participate in your community’s planning process.
