HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Emerson gained a quick four-point lead within the first minute and a half behind back-to-back triples from Beckwith. Mass.-Lowell answered with the next three points before jumpers from graduate Nate Martin and McNamara followed by Houston's layup put Emerson back up three at 12-9.
  • The Lions relinquished their three-point advantage when the Skyhawks pieced together a 12-2 spurt with four points coming from the hands of Brooks. Buckets from Martin and Arico cut the run and inched Emerson back within five at 21-16 with 9:42 on the clock.
  • Emerson used two consecutive shots from downtown from Arico and McNamara to keep pace with Lowell and inched the Lions to a three-point deficit at 25-22 at the 7:44 mark. The offense kept rolling despite playing from behind.
  • From 6:43 to 6:14, Emerson spread five points with the help from another trifecta from Arico to move the Lions to within one at 28-27. The visitors were able to keep within one on two more occasions, the first at 30-29 and the second at 32-31 after McNamara nailed a jumper at 4:29.
  • Emerson continued to battle and kept within striking distance of Lowell, but the Skyhawks spread nine more points through the final four and a half minutes. The Lions entered the break down four at 41-37.
  • Through the opening three minutes of the second, Emerson continued to stay paced with Lowell and trailed by seven after they put up four points with the score sat at 49-42 with 17:01 on the clock.
  • A trio of buckets from Brooks pushed the Skyhawks' lead into double-figures for the first time at 54-42 at 15:42. Emerson was held off the boards over the next five minutes until freshman Asher Gardiner broke the Lions' scoreless streak with a free throw.
  • Within the final nine minutes, Emerson put up 11 more points and fell to Mass.-Lowell, 105-53.
