BOSTON – Hosting its second opponent in three days, the Boston University men's basketball team will battle two-time defending Patriot League champion Colgate Monday night at Case Gym with the CBS Sports Network broadcast slated for 7 p.m.


The Terriers snapped a four-game losing streak on Saturday with a 66-53 win over Loyola Maryland, while the Raiders are riding a 23-game win streak against PL competition following a 62-61 nailbiter over American.


TERRIER TIDBITS

  • Improving to 6-2 at The Roof this season against the Greyhounds, head coach Joe Jones collected his 100th career home win, second most at BU behind Dennis Wolff's (94-'09) 130 victories. The Terriers are 2-2 in PL play so far with an 73-69 OT win over Lafayette and losses to both military academies, Army and Navy.
  • The Terriers are making the first of two scheduled appearances on CBS Sports Network this season after going 1-3 last year with a 79-53 win at American and hard-fought 85-80 overtime defeat at Navy in the PL semifinals.
  • Graduate student Walter Whyte owns a team-high 14.2 ppg and 5.8 rpg with 12 blocks, while classmate Jonas Harper is also in double figures at 10.1 ppg.
  • In conference play, senior Ethan Brittain-Watts is the third Terrier in double figures at 10.4 ppg behind Harper's 11.1 ppg and Whyte's 13.7 ppg.
  • Graduate student Fletcher Tynen has led BU in rebounding during PL action at 5.8 rpg alongside 7.3 ppg.
  • The Terriers are averaging 68.1 ppg and 41.6 FG% while holding opponents to 67.8 ppg and 42.9 FG%.
  • BU's bench ranks 71st nationally in offensive production at 24.1 ppg. The Terriers are 9-6 when their bench outperforms the counterparts.
SCOUTING COLGATE

  • The Raiders are 7-3 in true road games this season with a notable 80-68 victory at Syracuse. They are on a five-game win streak following a 93-66 loss at No. 15 Auburn back on Dec. 2 and most recently earned a 77-71 win at Holy Cross. 
  • PL Preseason Player of the Year Tucker Richardson owns a team-high 14.4 ppg with 5.0 apg and 2.2 spg, while Keegan Records has a team-high 5.6 rpg alongside 12.6 ppg.
  • The Raiders rank in the top-50 nationally in eight categories, including third in FG% (.509), fourth in 3FG% (.400), fourth in assist-turnover ratio (1.66) and 39th in scoring offense (79.0 ppg). 
  • On the defensive end, Colgate is holding opponents to 71.8 ppg and 47.2 FG% with a 2.1 rebounding margin.
SERIES HISTORY

  • In the series dating back to 1934, Colgate is currently ahead, 31-30, following a 77-71 home win over BU back on Jan. 11.
  • The matchup featured 10 lead changes and 10 ties with Harper posting a career-high 23 points thanks to five 3-pointers and Chimezie hauling in a personal-best 11 rebounds.
  • Colgate outscored BU off turnovers, 18-4, and earned a 28-17 advantage in free throw attempts.
  • Last season, both home teams won with BU claiming a 76-72 win.
  • The Raiders are 12-3 over the last 15 meetings with BU's highlight win coming on the road in the 2020 PL title game.
