HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lions stumbled out of the gate, only converting 4 of 13 shots and committing 4 turnovers in the first 10 minutes. Nearly 4 minutes had ticked off the clock before Senior Chelsea Gibbons scored the first bucket for the Lions, drilling a three-pointer.
  • The second quarter saw the Lions offense heat up as they converted over 50% of their attempts, including one three-pointer a piece from Bianca Benson and Olivia Deslauriers. The Lions entered halftime down by a score of 35-25.
  • The Lions were led by Ella Bushee to open the second half. Bushee dropped in 11 of her game-high 19 points in the third quarter, converting 3 of 4 shots and sinking 5 of 6 free-throws.
  • Junior Ava Salti came off the bench and dropped 10, 4th quarter points by going 3 of 3 from beyond the arc, including a game tying shot with just under 5 minutes left to play that tied the game at 60-60. Coast Guard re-took the lead before Gibbons drilled another three-pointer to give the Lions their first lead of the night at 63-62.
  • Coast Guard soon after took the lead once again, but this time for good. Despite a late game surge, the Lions were unable to overcome and come away with a victory on Senior Day.
UP NEXT

  • The Lions finish the 2022-2023 campaign with an overall record of 8-17 and a NEWMAC record of 3-7. The Lions look to come back strong in the 2023-2024 season and make a return to the postseason.
