A Springfield man has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for possessing a firearm and ammunition unlawfully. Robbie Delgado, 25, received a sentence of 40 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release from U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni.

Delgado had pleaded guilty in June 2024 to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition after being indicted by a federal grand jury in March 2024. On February 8, 2024, Delgado was found with a Baretta .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun.

His possession of firearms and ammunition was prohibited due to a previous state conviction in Hampden County for armed robbery and armed assault with intent to rob. For that offense, he served an 18-month prison sentence followed by four years of probation.

The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy; Jodi Cohen, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Boston Division; Brian A. Kyes, United States Marshal for the District of Massachusetts; and Superintendent Lawrence Akers of the Springfield Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd E. Newhouse from the Springfield Branch Office.
